“The movie was shot in winter 2005/2006 in Poland. It is based on a record of a prosaic treatment provident gardeners practice in order to protect their gardens. Protection is by means of hand-made constructions which make noise in the wind. Windmills made of plastic bottles impaled on sticks, metal lids, cans hanging on strings act as ‘scarers’ against moles and garden varmints. When moved by the wind they produce monotonous sound and make the ground vibrate. However, in the movie, by frosty scenery, when frozen earth is covered with a layer of snow and all moles are hibernating, the hypnotizing sound of the scarers become a soothing lullaby.”
